National Christian Development Organization (NCDO) is a nongovernmental and nonprofit-making organization that was established in 2008. It was established by a group of Southern Sudanese working with international organizations in Sudan, with more of the members from its main current partner, International Aid Services (IAS). Its main objective is to bring about transformation in the rural communities and those who are marginalized. Vision: NCDO seeks to see people living in South Sudan transformed and having a brighter future. Mission: NCDO seeks to provide clean and safe water, formal education, agricultural development, protection services and community development through a holistic approach to all the recipients without racial, political, gender or religious discrimination Core Mandate: For NCDO, this includes, but is not limited to, a) providing adequate water and sanitation; b) ensuring inclusive education (education for all); c) promoting community development; and d) fostering faith growth through holistic ministry. Core Values: NCDO cherishes a) stewardship and commitment; b) teamwork and unity; c) collaboration and integration; and d) good conduct in service. NCDO South Sudan aligns all development activities with South Sudanese national priorities that contribute to the alleviation of poverty, recovery, and reintegration; an increase in education; and a decrease in gender inequity. To guarantee ownership of activities, NCDO South Sudan uses participatory approaches when designing development projects and programs. The projects are designed with the involvement of the local community, stakeholders, and local authorities to ensure sustainability. The strategic approach of NCDO South Sudan prioritizes capacity building, advocacy, and service delivery. With this in mind, and utilizing a rights-based approach, we work extensively with civil society actors and community-based groups, utilizing participatory tools and communication for social change.
