Rural Engagement and Empowerment Programme Ghana (REEP) is a community-based non-governmental organisation working to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable populations—particularly women, girls, children, and young people—in underserved communities in Northern Ghana. REEP was established in response to persistent challenges related to access to education, sexual and reproductive health, gender inequality, youth unemployment, and limited community participation in development. REEP works closely with local communities, schools, traditional authorities, civil society, and public institutions to design and implement context-specific interventions that address both immediate needs and long-term structural barriers. Over time, the organisation has strengthened its capacity and built a solid track record in community engagement, programme delivery, and district- and regional-level partnerships. The core purpose of REEP is to empower individuals and communities with knowledge, skills, and resources to make informed decisions, claim their rights, and actively participate in their own development. Its key focus areas include sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), girls’ education, menstrual health and hygiene management, gender equality, youth leadership and civic engagement, and economic resilience. REEP’s activities centre on education, health promotion, advocacy, and capacity building. This includes school- and community-based education programmes, comprehensive menstrual health education, stigma reduction and community outreach, engagement of parents and traditional and religious leaders, and initiatives that strengthen systems supporting girls’ participation and dignity. REEP also implements youth empowerment programmes that build leadership, entrepreneurship, and advocacy skills.
