Improving access to social protection for families of children with severe disabilities in Uganda Phase II: mobilising for national elections |
The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU), founded on 14th November 1987, is the umbrella organization for all disability categories in Uganda. It was established with a vision of creating a just and fair society where Persons with Disabilities live prosperous and dignified lives. NUDIPU advances this vision by advocating for the rights of Persons with Disabilities through a unified voice to improve their livelihoods. Through its strong network of 146 District and City Unions of Persons with Disabilities and 17 National Organizations of Persons with Disabilities, NUDIPU represents diverse disability groups across Uganda and promotes a comprehensive approach to advocacy and empowerment. Its current Strategic Plan (2025–2029), which among others focuses on policy influence and advocacy, socio-economic empowerment and capacity strengthening of its membership, strengthening the Information Systems of NUDIPU and evolving needs of Persons with Disabilities. and strengthening Institutional Development for Sustainability which all seek to deepen NUDIPU’s impact in building a just and fair society where Persons with Disabilities live dignified and prosperous lives.
