Two men cleaning up the Nairobi-river Photo: Simon Sticker, Dreamtown

In connection with CISU's Annual General Assembly in 2025, there was once again a photo competition, which all member organisations could participate in.

The best photos was exhibited at the Annual General Assembly, and the winning photo, seen above, received 10,000 DKK and will be used for CISU's annual poster.

This year, the photo competition had four categories:

Collaboration – This category showcases how collaboration can take shape, and what community and co-creation might look like in practice.

Everyday Life – Here you’ll find images from daily life, as well as photos of organisational work – both at home and abroad.

Struggle – What does the fight for a better world look like? And where does it happen? This category is open to images of activism, climate justice efforts, and the daily struggle for a fairer society.

Symbolism – This is the category for images where the story behind them might not be the main focus – it’s about what the image symbolises. It could be a road sign representing a strategy, a plant as a symbol of growth, or something else entirely.

And the special category:

Change – A special anniversary category, where contributors can share more than one image to show the change they’ve helped create. This could be single powerful images or before-and-after photos from initiatives over the past 30 years.

How to participate

The deadline for participation was Sunday 6 April 2025, and we are no longer accepting uploads.

All member organisations can submit photos in all categories. The only requirement is that the organisation has the rights to use and share the image and has obtained relevant consent from individuals in the photos. By submitting, the organisation agree to CISU using the photos to illustrate the work of our member organisations. If this is not the case, this should be expressed either at the time of submission or by contacting CISU subsequently.
