THE 2026 PHOTO CONTEST
In 2026, CISU will once again hold a photo contest open to all member organizations.
We hope you’ll dig out your best photos and share them with us. The photo does not have to be new or taken in 2026. It just needs to be a good photo that has not previously been submitted to CISU’s photo contest.
The photo contest has four categories
Legitimacy Who is heard, who is given a voice and influence, and how do people and communities create change on their own?
Community Photos of people standing together, collaborating, organizing, and creating something together.
Courage and Resistance Photos of people and communities speaking out, organizing, or standing their ground when something is at stake.
Everyday Life The small and big moments when change happens: in everyday life, within organizations, and between people.
How to Participate
The final deadline for the photo contest is midnight on November 1, 2026.
All member organizations may submit photos in all four categories, and you are welcome to submit multiple photos.
After the final deadline, a jury will select one winner in each of the four categories.
The category winners will be announced on November 15, 2026.
The four category winners will advance to the grand finale and will also have their photos featured on a CISU annual poster.
On December 1, 2026, the overall winner of the 2026 CISU Photo of the Year will be selected from among the four category winners.
This grand prize winner will receive 10,000 kroner, which must be used to support the member organization’s work. The winning photo will also appear on the cover of CISU’s 2026 Annual Report.
Rights and Consent
It is the member organization’s responsibility to ensure that it has the right to use and share the photo and that the necessary consent has been obtained from the people in the photo, where required. We encourage you to be respectful toward the people appearing in the photos and to avoid exposing or portraying anyone in an undignified manner. Consider whether the people in the photo would themselves feel comfortable with it being displayed publicly.
By submitting an entry, you agree that CISU may use the photo in connection with the photo contest and to illustrate the work of member organizations in CISU’s communications.
If you do not want CISU to use the photo in contexts other than the photo contest, please indicate this when submitting your entry.
