The project ‘Common Ground’ strengthens social cohesion and social capital in Ukraine by facilitating the long-term integration of war-affected populations, particularly war veterans and internally displaced persons. It does so by supporting inclusive, accessible Community Centres and by promoting community-led management models for this kind of ‘third places’. The project focuses on empowering local civil society organizations to establish and develop local community centres by supporting selected civil society organisations in Boyarka, Kyiv region, Nizhyn, Chernihiv region and Dovhe, Zakarpattia region. Through a broader hybrid Educational Programme, the project targets a wider audience of civil society leaders, researchers, and practitioners who are interested in developing third places in their communities. Through media and communications outreach the project raises awareness of the role of third places’ in strengthening social cohesion.
