Building on six years development and implementation of the inclusive Breaking the Silence (BTS) model in urban and rural Kenya, the programme strengthens locally led civil society to prevent early and unintended teenage pregnancy among high-risk adolescents in Nairobi’s informal settlements and rural Baringo. Adolescents with and without disabilities strengthen their SRHR knowledge, agency and protective behaviours through the graduation and institutionalisation of BTS in schools and community Safe Spaces. In parallel, frontline health actors, including Community Health Units and facility providers, improve disability-inclusive referral pathways and youth-friendly services, enabling adolescents to translate knowledge into safe action. Evidence generated across these levels is systematically documented and used to reinforce partner and youth-led advocacy for county budget integration and institutional ownership of core BTS functions, ensuring long-term sustainability.
