Resume
Danner has experienced an increasing interest from its partners and broader network in the MENA region on how to fight gender-based violence through working with gender norms. Many of these organisations express a need to harvest others’ experiences and knowledge of what works when addressing gender norms. They also express an interest in testing similar interventions in their own country (Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco in particular). Danner wishes to meet this need through this small-scale intervention, which will constitute an important stepping stone for further work on addressing gender norms in the MENA region. The purpose of the intervention is to arrange a two-day seminar for selected women’s rights CSOs in the MENA region on fighting GBV by addressing gender norms. The overall objective of the intervention is therefore to support and build synergies as well as facilitate knowledge and practise-sharing between partners and other key stakeholders working with gender norms. The seminar will furthermore act as a kick-starter for projects and partnerships that address gender norms. With the CISU small scale intervention, 7 key CSOs working within this field (of GBV prevention through norm changing efforts) will be gathered in Tunis for a two-day seminar/workshop. The main outcome is exchange of experiences and capacity building among CSOs in the MENA region and in Danner on how to work with gender- and family gender norms as a tool to fight and prevent domestic violence.
