This project aims to create hope for Gambian rural youth by addressing the double challenge: Migrate over the sea or stay at home with limited livelihood opportunities and insufficient avenues to influence their own future. CREATE responds by equipping 65 rural young people with practical skills, economic pathways and civic agency: By training in film, digital storytelling, communication and advocacy, they will produce relevant content engaging up to 400 fellow youth through participatory advocacy, community radio, schools, town halls and public screenings across the four elections in The Gambia from December 2026 to June 2027. The project will also strengthen four community radios and five CSOs as platforms for reliable information, dialogue and accountability, and bring youth-generated evidence into structured engagement with 50 duty bearers. CREATE will test and document a locally led model that can inform longer-term rural development and alternatives to irregular migration.
