Resume

Somalia experienced the worst drought in decades in 2023, followed by the most extensive floods in generations, all within the span of just a few months. Despite some improvements, levels of humanitarian needs are still severe and extreme. Almost one in five Somalis face high levels of acute food insecurity. We visited Kooshin & Hawa-Tako villages during the flood crisis. We held meetings with local communities, and they informed us that these areas are among the hardest hit by flash floods. The people in these villages live in bad conditions. They told us that something they do not get food to eat. They expressed they need food, mosquito nets and shelters and other NFI items. The floods caused damages to social infrastructure including shelters, latrines, and roads in the district. They also expressed that they are in need humanitarian assistances. Hence, we decided to target Koshin & Hawa-Tako villages to provide humanitarian .
