This pilot project aims to improve Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) for manual construction workers in Chitwan, Nepal who face significant health risks, including occupational injuries, heat related illnesses, musculoskeletal disorders and more, all of which contribute to reduce labor productivity. It begin with a study on current OSH conditions among construction workers. Based on the findings, the project will co-create practical, low-tech and affordable interventions with small-scale employers and workers ensuring relevance and adoptability by stakeholder. The proposed solutions will be piloted with half of the target population and, if successful, will inform the design of a proposed four-year follow-up program to test and scale effective preventive measures. By generating evidence, piloting low-cost solutions, and fostering stakeholder commitment, the initiative aims to reduce occupational health risks, empower workers and establish a model for safer construction workplaces.
