Resume

The humanitarian crisis in Somalia is primarily driven by seasonal flooding, exacerbated by climate shocks. These floods have resulted in widespread displacement and disruption to livelihoods. Recent flooding has impacted over 84,000 individuals, with more than 9,570 displaced individuals. The affected population includes particularly vulnerable groups such as IDPs, displaced pastoralists, children, and pregnant or lactating women in Daryeel and Ceelgaab camps located approximately 10 km from Galkayo district. Many displaced households are facing food shortages and health risks from waterborne diseases. The recent flooding has devastated grazing lands and destroyed crops. Over 1,750 livestock were killed, threatening livelihoods. Camps became overcrowded by migrated pastoralists. The objective of this initiative is to provide integrated food packages and NFI to improve their livelihoods, living conditions and resilience for future crises.
