Resistance

NGO "Resistance" is a Ukrainian public organization led by transgender and non-binary people, partners of trans people and trans-friendly specialists. There are 6 people in our team. We started our work in March 2022 due to the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. During March and April 2022, we volunteered at a temporary shelter for LGBTIQ+ and women in Kosice, Slovakia, which was given to us by the NGO "Gender Stream". From May to September 2022, our team members managed this shelter. In 2023, we successfully implemented projects on psychological assistance, creation and improvement of the informational Telegram bot, and in 2024, projects on providing humanitarian assistance and psychological support. Our main areas of work are psychological service, provision of humanitarian and informational assistance, facilitating access to hormone replacement therapy, educational activities and creation of materials for them. Goal To build a transgender-aware society in Ukraine, free from discrimination based on gender identity and appearance, where trans*people have the space to freely and safely realize all their needs, work, have access to career growth and politics, and have the opportunity to freely access documents and medicine. Building a strong, visible, and stable trans*community. Mission To unite transgender people in Ukraine and beyond, to make society informed, tolerant, safe, and equal.
