ECOA - Ecología y Acción

Ecoa – Ecology and Action is a non-governmental organization that emerged in 1989 in Campo Grande, the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, formed by a group of researchers working in various professional segments, such as: biology, communication, architecture, social sciences, engineering, and education. Its main objective was, and still is, to establish a space for reflection, formulation, and debate, as well as to develop projects and public policies for environmental conservation and sustainability in both rural and urban areas. The organization aims to promote actions to preserve the environment , combining scientific research and political action in the broadest sense of the term, and involving communities, educational and research institutions, governmental institutions, and other non-governmental organizations. As tools, it promotes campaigns and multi-sectoral dialogue processes to create spaces for reflection, negotiation, and decision-making regarding priority issues for environmental conservation and sustainability. One of the institution's main characteristics is its ongoing support for the emergence and development of local networks, forums, partnerships, and organizations in Brazil and other countries. It also participates in events such as workshops to discuss environmental laws, particularly those related to the Pantanal wetlands. ECOA promote socio-environmental actions for the conservation of natural environments and their local populations, combining scientific research with traditional knowledge to foster public development policies
