Chimalaya Charity Denmark

Chimalaya Charity Denmark (CCD) has as its prime goal to support the fight for elimination of neo-natal and under-5 mortality due to mal- or under-nourishment through improving the awareness of new mothers of the importance of breast feeding and healthy infant nutrition, childcare and sanitation in Bode and Dhulikel districts in Nepal through its main local partner and associated partner. The project ensures outreach by trained home-visit nurses to new mothers in remote villages in the mountains and to new mothers, often teenagers, working in unhealthy conditions in carpet making and brick making factories. To enhance the awareness about infant nutrition, especially the promotion of breastfeeding, the project establishes inclusive mother groups, based in the clinic in Bode and holds bi-annual technical trainings of new home-visit nurses. The role of CCD is to ensure funding, provide technical expertise and create awareness in Denmark. Work in CCD is all on a voluntary basis.
