Resume

The project Aquaculture and Advocacy for Green Fish Farming in Central Uganda seeks to strengthen the organisation and advocacy of small-scale fishpond farmers to engage in policy dialogue with local authorities, while building their capacities in sustainable aquaculture activities using green technology. This will lead to improved policy implementation and increased income for at least 100 rural fish farming families, while contributing to a positive ecological balance between fish farms and the surrounding environment. This will be done by building the capacities of fish farmers to effectively organize themselves to engage in dialogue with key duty bearers and other stakeholders for collective advocacy on their rights and interests. In addition, the project will use the supported aquaculture groups as the focal point for building the capacities of individual fish farmers to better manage their fishponds by training farmers in new, green and improved aquaculture techniques.
