The first locust outbreak in targeted geographical intervention rural area of Togdheer region was observed in December 2019. The infestation has greatly affected productive capabilities of the target group depending smallholder farming who grow maize and sorghum and raise small herds of livestock (sheep, goats and few camels), with almost no existing capacity at the district level to timely protect the food security and livelihoods of the people. At national level, response capacity is limited and requires support from international agencies. The purpose of this intervention focus on providing emergency relief to the population most affected by the locus outbreak in Togdheer region Somaliland. Our target group are the most vulnerable 500 HHs in 3 villages of Beer and Odweyne district community for a 3 months’ period. The target group will receive food ration and seed supplies for maize and sorghum to cultivate their farm lands.
