The purpose of this project is to guarantee full and effective access to basic rights and dignified conditions of the LGBT+ population deprived of liberty in Colombia. Santamaría Fundación in alliance with Colombia Solidaritet focuses the strategic services of the project in the LGBT+ corridor 3B of the Villahermosa prison in Cali. Here, trans women, gay men, and bisexual men will improve their mental health, physical health, well-being, and access to basic rights. Based on the experiences of the pilot in Villahermosa, advocacy will ensure that the relevant institutions and civil society organizations have the capacity to provide non-discriminatory public services and guarantee the rights of LGBT+ persons in Colombian prisons. Further, Santamaría will strengthen its organizational capacities to qualify the support provided to the target population in demanding their rights and hold duty bearers accountable.
