To increase awareness amongst key decision makers about the linkages between population dynamics, reproductive health and rights and gender and adaptation to climate change.
Immediate targets
National level: To increase knowledge and awareness amongst key decision makers in Uganda and Ethiopia on the importance of including population dynamics and reproductive health and rights in the formulation and implementation of the National Adaptation Plans for climate change. International level: To increase knowledge and awareness amongst key stakeholders from governments and civil society in PSDA partner countries on the linkages between population dynamics and reproductive health and rights in development and implementation of climate change adaptation under the UNFCCC framework incl. during COP. Capacity development and sustainability of the intervention: To increase Southern partners’ advocacy capacity both at the national and international level and ensure sustainability and effectiveness of the advocacy efforts of the PSDA.

Verdens befolkning forventes at nå 8,5 milliarder i 2030 og 9,7 milliarder i 2050. Den højeste og hurtigste befolkningstilvækst sker i Afrika, som samtidig bærer den største byrde ift. både klimaforandringer og manglende reproduktiv sundhed og rettigheder (RSR). Selv om klimaforandringer, bæredygtig udvikling og befolkningsudvikling hænger uløseligt sammen, er dette sjældent reflekteret i klimatilpasningsplaner. Der mangler stærke advocacyorganisationer i syd, der kan fremme denne dagsorden nationalt og internationalt. Sex & Samfund vil i kraft af sin koordinerende funktion i den globale Population and Sustainable Development Alliance (PSDA) styrke advocacy-kapaciteten hos udvalgte PSDA-medlemmer i Syd og arbejde sammen for en langsigtet integration af befolkningsdynamikker, SRSR, køn og ligestilling i klimatilpasningsindsatser for at bidrage til styrket resiliens hos de mest sårbare befolkningsgrupper.
