The overall objective of the intervention is to create a safer environment for female sex workers in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and offer them an alternative source of income. The 3 objectives for the intervention comes from an examination of the conditions for female sex workers in Dar es Salaam, done by the Danish Project Manager together with our new partner STEPS Tanzania. 1. Female sex workers will get another source of income than sex work through IGA’s 2. Empowering female sex workers to improve their own conditions through a harm reduction program 3. Developing a strategy for advocacy for the rights of female sex workers. Activities; market analysis, entrepreneurship training, training in practical skills, establish 5 IGAs, peer work training, right based training, harm-reduction activities, meetings with CSOs, workshop with relevant social service providers, police, and local leaders, ongoing data collection for advocacy strategy.
