Resume

Bolivia's tropical forests are facing significant deforestation, impacting rural and indigenous communities whose livelihoods depend on the region's favorable microclimates. Intact forests are essential for maintain-ing access to forest resources, ecosystem functions and regulating microclimates. The ongoing deforestation disrupts local communities and poses a broader threat to biodiversity and global climate. To address these challenges, AKTION AMAZONAS is partnering with local organizations and stakeholders to protect indige-nous forest communities and territories in Eastern Bolivia. The project focuses on empowering civil society through initiatives such as sustainable coffee production and strengthening territorial governance. The aim is to ensure access to essential ecosystem functions for local forest communities, conserve clusters of old-growth forests, and enhance the connectivity of natural and productive landscapes across the region.
