Resume

WASH is a critical need for the flood affected communities in Beletweyne to ensure the reduction of the transmission of faecal-oral and vector-borne diseases, as well as environmental health risks. This will be achieved by promoting good hygiene practices, providing water and sanitation services, as well as unconditional cash transfer (UCT) for a four-months period with a view to securing their livelihoods and preventing a further slide into destitution for the flood and multi-crisis drought affected households in Beletweyne district. The communities are already in urgent need of humanitarian assistance due to the current flooding and five failed consecutive rain seasons worsening the existing drought being experienced for the past four years. KAALO has local presence and is ready to intervene and has access to the affected population. The intervention is lifesaving, targeting vulnerable households, our goal is to provide integrated WASH and EFSL activities for 8.670 individuals.
