Resume

The Community Action and Civic Engagement through Sports (CACES) project seeks to strengthen the voices and capacities of especially Local Youth Associations (LYAs). The project sensitizes youth associations to advocate for improved social service and hold duty bearers accountable. This is done through structured sports events and civic action guided by capacity building in association management, skills development and income generating activities. The project will focus on community mobilization and facilitate dialogue meetings between political leaders and communities. Empowerment of young people is not a stand-alone activity. It requires a combination of capacity building, advocacy and skills development for enhanced livelihoods. Thus, the project adopts a kind of hybrid model of community mobilization, civic action and skills development with sports as a tool for development (ST4D) as the underlying approach.
