In Paraguay & Brazil, the project will enhance capacities of Ava Guaraní Paranaense Indigenous communities and organizations to advocate for individual and collective rights, for restitution of ancestral territories and reparations for material and immaterial damages caused by construction of the Itaipú Binational Hydroelectric Power Plant. The project pursues a theory of change encompassing 1) the enhancing of knowledge and skills of organizations, communities, and people, allowing for 2) application of new strategies in strengthened alliances, 3) and enhancing institutional capacities to effectively support Indigenous communities. The change approach builds on intercultural, gender-sensitive and action-oriented capacity building and leadership development. Activities incl. a) human rights education b) human rights-based communication and awareness-raising, c) targeted advocacy, d) action-oriented networks, and e) facilitating coordination, knowledge sharing and joint learning.
