Resume
The partners Nordic Designers Aid and Crafting Hope work in the rural Overberg District, South Africa, to create peaceful, inclusive and equal communities through female and youth empowerment. The partners take inspiration in the Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, as well as Goal 4: Quality Education and 16; Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. With the Citizen Participation Intervention, the partners will implement ‘the Girl Game Changer’ program". The overall purpose of the program is to empower girls to identify key areas for change, to incubate social change campaigns and actively facilitate their implementation in the community and take action. As a tool for development both partners believe that critical, reflective, civic education is vital as the foundation for peaceful, equal and democratic societies. The partners also promote the use of the arts, such as music, design and crafts, as a powerful educational tool, educating girls about active, democratic citizenship by building places of creative expression, where they can engage freely on equal terms. The partners will also build and expand the group of youth facilitators and test and develop facilitation methods based on their ability to empower and mobilise marginalised girls in rural South Africa through the chosen methods. Finally, the partners will ensure organizational capacity building of the local partner with a focus on the board in relation to the governing structure and financial management.
