Resume

The project responds to the impact of the Philippine “war on drugs,” a state policy pursued under ex-President Duterte, linked to widespread killings & other abuses, particularly in poor urban communities. Although he faces ICC proceedings for alleged crimes against humanity, survivors & families continue to face trauma, grief, stigma, isolation, & economic hardship. Few perpetrators have been held accountable. Fear & discrimination discourage survivors from speaking out, and access to justice, victim support, & psychosocial services remains inadequate. Working in two poor localities severely affected by the violence, the project will support survivors to heal, rebuild confidence & agency & overcome isolation. Trauma-informed psychosocial support will strengthen coping & social functioning. Capacity building will strengthen survivor leadership, documentation & remembrance. Survivor associations will be strengthened to provide mutual support & enable collective action for redress.
