The project will support internally displaced persons (IDP) from the conflict in central and northern Mali with a focus on one thousand households in Bankass District in Mopti Region, which hosts a particularly large number of IDPs. CARE and the local partner, IMADEL, will distribute electronic food vouchers that can be used to purchase foodstuffs in local markets. Monthly distributions will take place in March, April and May and bridge a gap before WFP distributions begin in June. The expected outputs of the project are that access to food for vulnerable IDP households has increased, that awareness of good food and nutrition practices is raised, and that robust community complaints and feedback mechanisms are established.
