The population of Helambu is hit hard by climate change (CC) through floods, failing water sources and vulnerability of crops. Youths and adults migrate out of Helambu. The CCAM1 is a planning process (LAPA and LDRMP). This proposal built on the findings from the LAPA and aims to assist the communities implementing practical solutions identified. Empowering local stakeholders leading CC adaptation gives communities a voice in decisions affecting their lives and livelihoods. Successful CC adaptation requires understanding local context, e.g., culture, values, and knowledge systems. The planned activities increase forest area, secure water sources, train Climate Smart Agriculture, train Disaster Risk Reduction, promote income-generation for poor and vulnerable families using natural resources of medicinal and other valuable plants, capacity building of local communities taking part in the municipality planning process and capacitate the municipality to secure these activities long-term.
