Resume

The project strengthens rehabilitation and social reintegration for Ukrainian war veterans with amputations by consolidating inclusive amputee football structures. Ukraine has experienced an unprecedented number of war-related amputations, creating long-term rehabilitation needs that extend beyond medical treatment. Building on two previous project phases, the project stabilises existing amputee football teams, establishes a women’s team, strengthens coaching capacity through specialised training and mentoring and anchors amputee football through experience sharing and conferences. Regular training sessions, tournaments, and targeted recruitment through rehabilitation centres and veteran networks create structured and supportive team environments. As a result, veterans gain improved physical functioning, strengthened psychosocial well-being, and renewed social belonging, while local actors develop the capacity to sustain amputee football as a community-based rehabilitation platform.
