Resume

This programme builds on the egalitarian relationships formed during the 2025 Gukurahundi village hearings across 18 chieftainships, empowering communities and traditional leaders to demand state accountability for reparations and a truthful national report. The programme will provide psycho-social support to address secondary traumatisation and facilitate group debriefings. A community-authored version of the hearings will be produced as an advocacy tool, preserving local memory and amplifying grassroots voices. In addition the programme will facilitate culturally grounded skills training for youth and women, including citizen journalism workshops that equip participants to use media - especially social platforms - for storytelling, advocacy, and civic engagement. These efforts aim to sustain the recognition and empowerment of victims and leaders, ensuring continued accountability from both local and national authorities while fostering healing, visibility, and inclusive justice.
