The intervention addresses the issues of water and sanitation in the informal settlement Kinawataka in Kampala, Uganda, as pillars of a healthy urban environment. Based on participatory action, the intervention will support and strengthen local organisational capacity, centred around the construction of a bio-centre facility that delivers water, sanitation, community space, bio-gas and other key services to the community. With the bio-centre as a tangible-first and residents organised around it, the partners will support the community in its pursuit of dialogue with municipal actors aimed at addressing the root causes of the settlement's poor health and lack of basic services.
