Resume

The 2019 UN Resolution on the Rights of the Child, (A/RES/74/133) focuses specifically on children without, or who are at risk of losing, parental care. It emphasizes the importance of growing up in a family environment. It opposes the unnecessary separation of children from their families and the unlawful or arbitrary deprivation of liberty of children. It encourages states and civil society actors to support the de-institutionalization of children. After spending years institutionalized Care Leavers often traumatized have huge issues adjusting to the outside world. In Nepal there are no platforms yet for this group of youths.. This project brings together Care Leavers, providing a space where they can support each other. It seeks also to capacity strengthen them with advocacy tools /skills so they can advocate for childcare system change within the country. It sees the inherent value in speaking about the wrongs of residential care from firsthand Care Leavers perspectives.
