Resume

Since its independence, Nigeria has faced near ceaseless conflict between the two major religions, Islam and Christianity, resulting the loss of millions of lives and unquantifiable social and material damage. Furthermore, the country struggles with critical levels of unemployment and lack of opportunities for the youth, which further contributes to the fragile situation. Cross Cultures and ANFPU aim use the social commitment from grassroots football to promote peaceful coexistence between different ethno-religious groups and provide young people with an opportunity to gain transferrable skills and address social issues in their communities. Specifically the project trains former football players in NEET situations to be volunteer youth leaders and builds their capacity to organize football schools for vulnerable children in their local communities as a means to bring people together across divides.
