The intervention aims to reduce acute food insecurity, protect livelihoods, and strengthen flood preparedness among 250 vulnerable households (approximately 1,750 people) in Buulo Dooni village , Baardheere district, Gedo region, Somalia. Uneven rainfall during the 2026 Gu season, below-average harvests, livestock losses, and rising food insecurity have increased humanitarian vulnerability in the area, while anticipated El Niño-related flooding during the October–December 2026 Deyr season is expected to further worsen conditions. Starting in late July 2026, ARD-SOM will implement anticipatory Early Action activities before the Deyr season, including preparation of 150 hectares of farmland, livestock treatment campaigns, anticipatory cash assistance to 90 vulnerable households, distribution of water storage containers to 250 households, prepositioning of water purification tablets, and community flood preparedness and early warning activities.
