The intervention aims to save lives and reduce acute suffering among drought-affected communities in Shidoole, Cumar Faqi, Gel Gel, Hawal Been, and Abaq Haluul villages in eastern Baardheere municipality, Somalia. Prolonged drought has caused severe water shortages and sharply reduced household purchasing power, placing women, children, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and female-headed households at heightened risk. ARD will implement a rapid, integrated response providing emergency water trucking (125 trucks), establishment of safe water storage and distribution points, chlorination of supplied water, and cash-based assistance of USD 176 to 135 of the most vulnerable households. Approximately 3,500 individuals and their livelihoods will benefit directly, while also supporting essential livestock survival.
