Resume

The purpose of this project is to improve the livelihoods of women and reduce gender-based violence (GBV) in Rulindo District, Rwanda, by strengthening women’s economic independence and promoting more gender-equitable household relations. The project supports approximately 300 women organised in 15 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) through financial literacy, savings and loan mechanisms, and income-generating activities. In parallel, couples and community members are engaged in conflict management, GBV prevention, and positive masculinity to address harmful gender norms and strengthen family cohesion.Through a combination of women-led economic structures, community-based dialogue, and capacity building of local facilitators, the project contributes to increased participation of women in household decision-making and more sustainable local responses to GBV.
