Resume

The main purpose of the project is to consolidate previously started efforts to strengthen civil society to lobby and advocate for sustainable equal access to education for children, in particular girls, of the Gawri minority language community in Pakistan. This will be done by strengthening the already existing mother tongue based multilingual education (MTB MLE) in six Gawri private schools as well as continuing lobbying the government to accept Gawri as a language of instruction in primary schools. During the pilot project six community based advocacy groups were formed to advocate for MTB MLE with politicians and other community members. The advocacy groups have been successful and in this project six additional advocacy groups will be formed. Part of the project will be working towards a long term goal of making the six private schools sustainable through advocating with the local communities and national NGOs to contribute to the full operation of the schools.
