Resume

Kenya is affected by severe and worsening flooding across the country, caused by heavy rains since March. This intervention responds to urgent humanitarian needs caused by the flooding and supports the recovery of affected populations in the county of Kisumu. Together with Kisumu County Agency response team and other agencies, Plan will support the humanitarian response in the sub-county of Nyakach. Component 1 of the intervention addresses the urgent needs of flood-affected households in line with a joint needs assessment conducted in May: unconditional cash transfers for food, medicine etc; NFIs distribution including water-treatment kits and Dignity Kits (hygiene and sanitary items), and hygiene training. Component 2 of the intervention ensures transition to recovery by distributing small livestock and resilient planting seeds, in combination with training. This component enhances food security and reestablishes livelihood for the most vulnerable households.
