Resume

Rural communities adjacent to key biodiversity areas are often impacted by human wildlife conflicts. This project aims to strengthen capacity for coexistence, build resilient livelihoods and improve safety in communities affected by human-wildlife conflicts in Botswana and Tanzania - particularly human-elephant conflicts. The purpose is to provide partner NGOs, Government officials and local communities with knowledge and tools to manage human-wildlife conflicts and implement coexistence programmes for local benefits, by 1) consolidating a network of co-existence practitioners sharing practices and advice local co-existence programmes, 2) work with local stakeholders to develop a participatory plan for implementing co-existence activities around the Minziro ecosystem in Tanzania, and 3) hold an awareness raising community event and provide outreach materials to local communities. This will contribute to improved local livelihoods and biodiversity conservation.
