Resume

This pilot-project promotes the inclusion and empowerment of marginalised girls in Hargeisa by expanding access to public spaces and youth-led development opportunities. The project trains 10 young women to lead weekly street sports and mentoring sessions for 300 girls across underserved neighbourhoods in Hargeisa. Through weekly street sport sessions, the project strengthens their confidence, social skills, well-being and community belonging. In parallel, the youth-led organisation Nextgoal will be supported to strengthen its strategic focus and organisational visibility, laying the foundation for long-term, youth-led programming. The intervention contributes to broader efforts to advance gender equality, support inclusive civic participation, and localise effective civil society models in fragile contexts. Through structured peer leadership and community-based recreation, the project seeks to reclaim public space for girls and foster inclusive urban development in Somaliland.
