Resume

The aim of this anticipatory intervention is to reduce the risk and humanitarian impact of a forecasted cholera outbreak linked to flooding and water source contamination in Epworth, Harare. The project will establish safe water systems, enhance health education, and promote hygiene practices to mitigate waterborne diseases while also capacitating local health institutions to effectively prepare for potential cholera outbreaks. Through early action measures activated before peak transmission, the project will improve infection prevention, reduce disease transmission and enhance the well-being and resilience of 17,580 vulnerable households in Wards 1 and 5. By acting before the outbreak escalates, the project seeks to interrupt contagion and transmission pathways and reduce pressure on health facilities. The expected result is strengthened community preparedness, reduced cholera incidence, and improved institutional readiness to manage outbreak risks in a timely and coordinated manner.
