Resume

Healthy Smiles - Stronger Voices: Strengthening Community Action for Children's Oral Health in Rwanda builds on the long-standing partnership between SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda (SOS) and Dental Health Without Borders (DHWB) to strengthen existing structures for improved oral health among children and communities in Rubavu, Gicumbi and Gasabo Districts. It combines sustainable school-based oral health practices with community mobilisation, strengthening schools, community volunteers, parents, and youth organisations to collectively promote and sustain healthy oral health practices. Youth ambassadors and university volunteers will be empowered as community oral health advocates, leading civil society and key stakeholders to coordinate action, strengthen local ownership and advocate for sustainable oral health promotion. Reaching more than 11,000 children and parents, 200 school staff and 300 volunteers, the project will test and document sustainable approaches for wider scale-up.
