Resume

People who have been to prison struggle to find footing in society upon release. They are affected by stigma, lack of access to employment and fragile family and community ties. The reintegration process is a multifaceted effort involving the government, non-governmental organizations and community stakeholders. One challenge is the lack stakeholder coordinating mechanisms, which would aid the reintegration process from several angles. In this regard, Zambia trails behind in comparison to other Sub-Saharan countries. This project aims to build capacity in civil society partners to advocate for improved services and to build duty bearer commitment to improving services through improved coordination mechanisms and improvements in service delivery. Finally, it aims to influence the media in direction of less stigma in their reporting and faith leaders in Lusaka in direction of providing social support in the shape of facilitating for instance family and community ties.
