Resume

The project aims to empower young black LGBTQI+ activists and communities in rural and peri-urban areas of the Western Cape, addressing systemic violence, economic exclusion and generational trauma. By centering healing justice, youth leadership strengthening and movement building, the project seeks to create inclusive spaces that foster safety, solidarity and advocacy. Activities include storytelling workshops, culturally relevant healing circles, youth leadership capacity-strengthening, the establishment of queer food-growing collectives and building solidarity networks between undocumented refugees and local communities. Additionally, it supports advocacy campaigns for systemic reforms in health and wellness care, housing and education, linking these efforts to broader justice movements. Through these initiatives, the project envisions a cohesive movement reclaiming space and resources, advancing food and housing security, and prioritising collective care and wellness.
