Deforestation, wildfires, and climate change. Bolivia’s forests are under tremendous pressure. Tropical forests provide ecosystem functions to thousands of communities who rely on natural resources for their everyday survival. To protect biodiversity and community livelihood the project addresses two underlying causes to deforestation: Lack of institutional capacity and knowledge about conservation in institutions, managing Bolivia's natural resources and lack of involvement of young people in decisions regarding their future. By providing local community schoolteachers with knowledge and tools to deliver environmental education, raising awareness of nature conservation among youth and strengthen their advocacy skills and organization, the project contributes to strengthen sustainable forest conservation by amplifying young people’s representation and voices in decisions on nature conservation and the future of their communities.
