Overall targets
The main focus of this project is improved food security for the largest groups of small holder subsistence farmers in the Assuokow-Odumase and its environs. We have experienced that organic agriculture, understood as farming to the principles of health, care, ecology and fairness, and the conscious use of agro-ecological methods, is a highly relevant approach for improved food security in this region.Organic agriculture and the Millennium Goals. Immediate targets
• Objective of the intervention. The Development Objective The project will within implementation period contribute to the development objectives. Immediate objective 1 is to Improve Food Security through the introduction of Farmer Family Learning Groups in Organic Agriculture. ? By the 31 June 2018 the goals of development is that 50% of the 2500/3500 family members of the Farmer Family Learning Groups (FFLGs) have achieved food security through the establishment of at least 25 FFLGs including 440 farmer families. The indicators for immediate objective 1 will be used for the designing the baseline study, the participatory monitoring activities and final evaluation of the project. ? By the 31 June 2018 each member of the Farmer Families has 2 full meals a day and 50% of the members have 3 meals a day. ? By the 31 June 2018 the diet that the families consume is more varied and balanced when it comes to nutrition. ? By the 31 June 2018 50% of the members have increased production of food at their farms with at least 30%. Means of verification includes: Monitoring reports - having a system of monthly, quarterly and annual reports .Multi level review system. Participatory appraisal methods. Questionnaire survey. Baseline report compared to final evaluation report. Immediate objective 2 stated as: ? By the 31 June 2018the project is anticipated to improve the capacity of EVPFG to coordinate farmer groups has increased. ? The indicators for immediate objective 2 will be used for designing the baseline study, the participatory monitoring activities and final evaluation of the Project. ? By 31 June 2018 30% of the FFLG have developed their own annual action plan ? By June 2018 the FFLG approach has spread to at least 10 more farmer groups in EVPFG. Resume
Projektet vil I partnerskab mellem Eco Village Plus Foundation Denmark (ECPFD) og ECPF Ghana styrke fødevaresikkerheden i landsbyerne Assuokow og Odumasi I Ghana. Det sker gennem en styrkelse af civilsamfundet omkring smålandbrugene og fokus på deres synlighed og omtale i det ghanesiske samfund. Projektet vil omfatte mindst 436 familier og familiebrug – og i alt berøre mere end 2500 personer. Et år efter projektets afslutning forventes, at 70 - 80 % af de deltagende familier har opnået forbedret fødevaresikkerhed. Der uddannes 25 facilitatorer til at støtte mere end 20 Farmer Family Learning Groups (FFLG) bestående af 10-30 familier. EVPFG vil få opbygget en kapacitet til organisere de lokale landbrug og koordinere gruppernes arbejde og udvikling fremover, med fokus på den økologiske sektor. Der sker udvikling, træning, rådgivning og strategilægning i økologisk landbrug i samarbejde med danske rådgivere og det officielle rådgivningssystem i Ghana.
