PAD is a non-profit civil society organization established in 2011 and registered under Ethiopian law (registration number 2330). Since its inception, PAD has successfully implemented over 100 projects across Ethiopia, becoming a trusted development actor in the country’s civil society landscape. PAD operates across a broad range of thematic areas, including emergency relief, health and nutrition, WASH, food security, gender-based violence prevention, child and youth development, migrant returnee support, democratization, human rights advocacy, peace-building, economic empowerment, and capacity building. The organization is also known for its innovative work in community mental health, support for homeless populations, and the rehabilitation and reintegration of trafficking victims. PAD has extensive experience in capacity building for local CSOs, particularly through projects focused on localization. It has worked with local CSOs and government offices in regions such as Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Somali, and Afar, as well as in Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa. This approach is key to empowering communities and fostering ownership of development projects. Currently, PAD is implementing 24 active projects across Ethiopia, supported by a skilled and diverse team of 352 professionals, with 51% women. PAD also mobilizes over 15,700 volunteers, allowing it to reach communities with strong local engagement. In 2024, PAD provided direct support to nearly 395,000 individuals. The organization is backed by a solid institutional framework, including cloud-based financial management systems and digital project management platforms, ensuring high transparency, cost-efficiency, and accountability in all its operations.
