The Hadassah Davis Foundation (HDF) is a NGO with the purpose of supporting and advancing the lives of internally displaced children across Nigeria, left homeless and forced onto the streets to fend for themselves due to numerous reasons. Ultimately; poverty, insecurity, environmental displacement, violence and abuse. HDF's seeks to secure a stable living, to help promote the development of street children, to enhance participation in welcoming society for refugee families and also provide an early integration with low thresh-hold access to health and educational facilities to help mitigate the wide range of consequences of forced displacement on children's development. The primary target groups are: Children from vulnerable situations (street children, IDP children etc.) and IDP women. Primary activities: Education: we create avenues for learning in existing schools by providing relevant learning materials and curricula tailored to the requirements of street children. We also train teacher about trauma informed methods and child centered approaches. Protection: We identify and address child protection problems such as abuse, exploitation and recruitment into harmful company. We create child friendly spaces to allow them to play and socialize. We report child protection issues to the appropriate authorities. Psycho-social support: We use play, therapy, sport activities and counselling sessions to handle the trauma and emotional discomfort of the street children. Advocacy: we advocate for programs that protect the rights of children and women by raising awareness of the specific issues encountered by children and women. Gender based needs: we address and focus on the specific needs of girls and women, including protection from gender based violence. We report protection issues to the appropriate authorities. Community engagement: we involve the local community in our program design and execution to respect cultural sensitivity and sustainability.
