Myth Detector

Myth Detector is a subsidiary organization to the project partner, Media Development Foundation (MDF). Due to increasing restrictions on foreign aid in Georgia, it is necessary to use this Estonian registered subsidiary to receive the grant. Myth Detector was launched by the Media Development Foundation (MDF) Georgian non-governmental organization, as a fact-checking and myth-debunking platform –– in 2014. Here follows a description of MDF: The Media Development Foundation (MDF) is a leading Georgian non- governmental organization in media research and communication, specializing in foreign informational influences and domestic propaganda, identifying and verifying false information and manipulative content. With well-developed media literacy programs and experienced fact-checkers, MDF aims to foster critical thinking among media consumers and raise awareness about the importance of combating disinformation. The Media Development Foundation promotes quality journalism and the professional development of the media through the creation of educational resources, professional training, and the strengthening of media self-regulation mechanisms.
