LAOLALTĂ

Laolaltă is a feminist, non-governmental, non-profit organisation from the Republic of Moldova, founded in 2020 that promotes citizen involvement in community mobilisation and inclusive urban development. The organisation works to strengthen solidarity, compassion, gender equality, queer-friendly practice, and non-discrimination while developing projects with and for urban communities to address real needs and improve quality of life. Laolaltă’s purpose is to design feminist programmes and provide opportunities and resources for communities in safe, participatory spaces, while promoting equity and inclusion for underprivileged groups through collaboration with public authorities and key stakeholders. The organisation’s primary activities include participatory urbanism programmes such as DVOR (community-led courtyard development), managing a network of Community Centers that offer inclusive services and events, information and support services for refugees and local communities, and initiatives such as the School of Community Urbanism for youth leadership and capacity building. Laolaltă also engages in community organising, advocacy efforts like “Mayor for 10 Minutes”, and volunteer training through its Volunteer Academy, all aimed at empowering residents and strengthening community participation in local decision-making.
